Red Bridge

Red Bridge

This bridge is located in Liverpool Township crossing Wildcat Creek.  It was built in 1886 and is owned by the historical society. 

 

 

Fleisher’s Bridge

This bridge is located on Fairgrounds
Road
in Newport in Oliver Township.  It was built by Yohn and Ritter and features Burr arch truss construction.  It is owned by Perry County.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Clay’s Bridge

Clay's Bridge

This bridge can be found at Little Buffalo State Park in Centre and Juniata Townships.  The bridge is also owned by the park.  It was originally built by George Harding in 1890 and was placed across Little Buffalo Creek.  It was also rebuilt in 1959.  In 1970 it was moved to its current location spanning Furnace Run.  The reason for the move was that Little Buffalo Creek was dammed to form Holman Lake. 

 

Kochenderfer’s Bridge

This particular bridge is no longer in use and spans the Big Buffalo Creek in Saville Township.  The bridge can be found a short distance to the left of Fritz Road.  It was built by the Adair brothers in 1919 at a cost of $2,380.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Saville Bridge

Saville Bridge

The Saville bridge is located on Covered Bridge Road in Saville Township.  It was built in 1903 by L.M. Wentzel and is presently being refurbished. 

 

New Germantown Bridge

New Germantown Bridge

The New Germantown Bridge is located on Lower Buck Ridge Road in Toboyne Township.  This bridge crosses Sherman’s Creek and is owned by Perry County.  It was built in 1891 by John W. Fry. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mt. Pleasant Bridge

Mt. Pleasant Bridge

The Mt. Pleasant Bridge is located on Mt. Pleasant Road in Jackson Township.  This bridge like the New Germantown Bridge also crosses Shermans Creek.  This bridge was initially built as a standard bridge in 1918.  But however later that same year I.M. Wentzel  reconstructed the bridge into a covered bridge.  It is owned by Perry County.

 

Book’s Bridge

Book’s Bridge also known as Kauffman’s Bridge is located on Three Springs Road in Jackson Township.  This Bridge was demolished in 2003 and was replaced with a replica in the summer of 2004.  The original bridge was built by a unknown builder in 1883.  It is owned by the State of Pennsylvania. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Enslow’s Bridge

On Adams Grove Road in Jackson Township you will find Enslow’s Bridge.  This is also called the Turkey Trail Bridge and built in 1904.  However repairs had to be made to the bridge in 1997 due to damage hurricane Fran inflicted upon it in 1996.  It is owned by Perry County.

 

 

Bistline Bridge

Bistline Bridge

The Bistline Bridge can be found on Madison road in Madison Township.  It is owned by Perry County.  This bridge is also referred to as the Flickinger Mills Bridge and was built by an unknown builder in 1871. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Adair’s Bridge

Adair's Bridge

Adair’s bridge can be found on Lyons Road in Madison Township.  This bridge Spans the Shermans Creek.  It is also known as the Cisna Mills Bridge or Cisna Run Bridge.  It was built in 1864 and is the oldest bridge in Perry County.  It has recently been refurbished and is owned by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. 

 

Waggoner’s Bridge

This bridge also referred to as Thompson’s Bridge crosses Bixler Run.  It is located on an abandoned section of Route 274 in Tyrone Township.  The historical society privately owns and preserves it.  Joseph Lightner built the bridge in 1889.  Beyond you will also find Waggoners Mill and dam, both which are on private property. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Rice’s Bridge

This bridge is located on Kennedy’s Valley Road in Tyrone Township.  The bridge is owned by Perry County.  It was originally constructed in 1869 and was reconstructed in 2003.  This bridge crosses Shermans Creek.  Some also refer to this bridge as the Landisburg Bridge. 

 

Dellville Bridge

Dellville Bridge

The Dellville bridge is located on Dark Hollow Road in Wheatfield Township.  It was built in 1889 by Andrew Clouser and spans Shermans Creek.  Perry County owns this bridge.  In 1973 it had to be rebuilt following the flooding caused by hurricane Agnes in 1972.  In addition repairs were made to the bridge in 1997 following damage caused by hurricane Fran in 1996.
